About us

We love Barbados

Shasa, meaning ‘Precious Waters’, is a stunning 30 foot catamaran who can comfortably carry up to 12 guests. She is owned and captained by Jason O’Neal, who has over fifteen years of sailing experience.

Once on board, you’ll be supplied with masks, snorkels and flotation devices, and for those less confident in the water, snorkelling instruction is available from Captain Jason or a member of the Shasa crew.

As other reviewers have commented, going out on Shasa is the best way to get out to see the turtles before the other boats arrive! It was really nice to snorkel as part of a small group (8 persons), and we had a good amount of time at both snorkelling stops - I never felt rushed and certainly never felt bored.

Jason and Alex were delightful hosts. Jason took loads of great photos, including some of our young daughter underwater with turtles. We really appreciated that he shared all of these with us right after the boat tour. Jason and Alex responded promptly to email queries, and emailed us detailed driving instructions in Barbados.

There are lots of operators doing turtle-snorkelling tours, but Shasa is very highly recommended based on our experience.

My husband and I enjoyed swimming with the turtles and sting ray. Sailing was awesome as well. Alex was the best part though...she was funny and engaging and made us feel very welcome! Very lovely meeting both her and Jason.

I booked with Shasa tours in Barbados after viewing other great reviews. My husband and I were looking for a small group to snorkel and swim with the turtles in Barbados and we were not disappointed. Alex and Jason are great hosts and provided us with a very enjoyable trip.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jason and Alex for making our trip out to see the turtles and the fish such an amazing one. Jason knew exactly where to go to find the turtles and did so way before the other boats appeared. Both Jason and Alex were wonderful company and made sure we were all having a good time and explained everything we needed to know. They were both very attentive to our children aged 5 and 8 who also loved the day and swimming with the turtles and fish. There was also plenty of drinks on board and some lovely banana bread too. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back on board next year. Thanks again. Jo, Paul, Ben and Amy

Due to our short stay with a cruise-boat in Barbados, we only did the 3 hrs trip for swimming with Turtles and snorkling. Jason & Alex are doing a great Job with a small catamaran.. it felt like a trip with the Family. Thanks both - very well done.. and very much enjoyed

I booked this cruise to swim with sea turtles based on prior reviews and it lived up to and exceeded my expectations. Jason and his wife Alex are delightful. Friendly and down to earth. We only had eight on the catamaran. Intimate and personalized. We got to the turtle site before other boats came. Snorkeling was wonderful. Jason took wonderful undersea photos of the turtles which he emailed to us. After the turtles we went to a reef and saw many beautiful fish. On the way back light refreshments including rum punch and delicious banana bread were served. I cannot even put into words how truly wonderful this cruise was and how happy it made me. Highly recommend!!!

Thanks to our great hosts Alex & Jason we spent a wonderful day on Shasa on a recent cruise stop in Barbados. The snorkeling is first class, getting to the sea turtles early, before the "rush hour", and then at the reef. The lunch was excellent and drinks plentiful, what better way to spend a day!

We had the pleasure of sailing with Jason and Alex during a one day cruise ship stop. Transportation to and from the pier was by private taxi. My GF and I were joined by a family of five making it a total of seven on the tour.

The snorkeling was great and Jason made sure we got to the turtle site before the big boats. The lunch was homemade and very tasty. Drinks flowed all day. Having done both the big cruise ship tours and Shasa, I would definitely recommend Shasa.

I would highly recommend this excursion!! Alex and Jason are great hosts! You will enjoy every minute on Shasa and snorkeling with the turtles. A definite highlight of our cruise. There was six in our family and two other vacationers. Plenty of room to get comfortable and enjoy the ride! We loved the smaller group so, we could all be part of the conversation when learning about Barbados and the sea life we seen. Jason is a native of Barbados and his knowledge made the trip complete!
