About us

We love Barbados

Shasa, meaning ‘Precious Waters’, is a stunning 30 foot catamaran who can comfortably carry up to 12 guests. She is owned and captained by Jason O’Neal, who has over fifteen years of sailing experience.

Once on board, you’ll be supplied with masks, snorkels and flotation devices, and for those less confident in the water, snorkelling instruction is available from Captain Jason or a member of the Shasa crew.

Booked a 4 hour trip on Shasa with our 3 teenage girls. The booking process with Jason was easy and efficient and a 10am pickup from Holetown was perfect for us. Jason and Matthew were friendly and informative. We all thoroughly enjoyed plenty of swimming with turtles and fishes as well as a delicious lunch.

This was our second time on Shasa, even better than the last. Having Matthew swim with us was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable about all the fish and fed the turtles so we had a great experience swimming with the turtles. Great for families of all ages, we have four children between 9 and 16, it was a great trip.

We saved the best for our last day in Barbados, a cruise and a swim with the turtles on the catamaran Shasa. Jason is the most cordial host, Captain, and very informative about the Caribbean coast line of Barbados. A most pleasant and relaxing time on the Shasa which hosts a smaller number of passengers allowing for more interaction with the crew. Swimming with the turtles was just one of the highlights of our cruise, topped off with a couple "Rum Punches", and the interaction with a most hospitable Captain, Jason and First Mate, Matthew.

We chose Shasa for our catamaran cruise, as the initial contact was friendly and reviews on this site were impressive. Jason and Alex (just six days into married life together!) were very welcoming and, safety matters dealt with, we headed off down the coast. Jason kept us just ahead of the pack and we were able to snorkel and turtle watch without hordes of others. We then pulled onto the beach briefly to pick up lunch, which meant the food was fresher than if it had been brought along with us. Lunch was, as expected, chicken, flying fish, mac pie and salad, but was proclaimed by my brother-in-law, a homeowner and regular visitor to the island, to be a cut above similar fare experienced on other cruises.
We found Jason and Alex to be both amiable and professional, and we thoroughly enjoyed their company on the trip.

We decided to choose this catamaran after reading the previous reviews. It was the calm, relaxing and friendly experience we were hoping for. We arrived early enough to swim with the turtles before the crowded Jammin arrived on the scene. My daughter took some great photos with her new underwater camera and also took many at the reef we visited next, where Matthew fed the fishes. This quiet beach was only a 15 min walk from where we were staying, but we would never have discovered it without Jason. We were able to revisit the spot a couple of days later. The last stop was for a very nice lunch and an hour or so swimming and enjoying a rum punch in a very calm bay. Our teens loved it and we met some very nice, funny people (Jason and Matthew included).

This was easily one of the best days of our vacation!
Jason and Matthew picked us up from the beach and took us straight out to swim with the turtles. We got there nice and early before all the other cruises turned up so we had plenty of turtles around us. After that the sails were put up and we headed back up the West coast, it was very relaxing and the views were stunning. We did more snorkelling over the reef to see all the fish, which was an awesome sight. After a few hours we headed back to pick up lunch and we stopped off in a secluded bay. The lunch was superb, with plenty to choose from, probably one of the best selections we had all week.
After lunch we had time to go for a 45 minute swim before being dropped back off at the beach. Both Jason and Matthew were excellent hosts, and kept the drinks flowing throughout the 5 hours! There were 4 in our group and another family of 4 with us, the perfect amount.
I would recommend taking this tour if you want a quiet, professional and personal experience. Thanks for making it a great day Jason and Matthew!

We booked our tour and it ended up being just my husband and myself along with Jason. He was a fantastic guide. We snorkelled with the sea turtles and then snorkelled by the ship wreck. I got some amazing underwater pictures and had a great day with Jason. Will definitely do again when in Barbados again!

Sailing with Shasa was an exceptional experience. Jason and Matthew were very professional and looked after us perfectly.
My family booked the 5 hour lunch cruise for 6 adults. We found Shasa through their easy to use website and of course looked at the TripAdvisor reviews - so thought it only fair to do the same and share our excellent experience.
Prior to our holiday in Barbados we booked the trip with Jason. He was very helpful by email and it was easy to arrange for Shasa to accommodate out individual requirements before we arrived in Barbados.
We sailed from Holetown at 0945 and it was easy to board the boat and we were welcomed with a choice of drink. Jason and Matthew catered for us perfectly. There were 6 other people on the boat and still plenty of comfort and room. Most importantly with the number of drinks we consumed there is a sailing toilet on board!!!! There were some rain clouds which were carefully avoided so the rain did not affect our trip.
We visited a reef and a shipwreck to snorkel at. We swam with turtles and Matthew was patient with us and helpful feeding the turtles and snorkelling. We collected lunch and stopped in a bay to eat, drink, snorkel, swim or relax on beach.
Both Jason and Matthew were excellent tour guides.
The cruise was excellent, enough time to enjoy each location we stopped at and relaxing enough to enjoy the cruise along the west coast of Barbados.
My wife and I follow a vegan diet and Jason was able to arrange great food for us. We had a specially prepared serving of tofu and vegetables. The portion size was very large and prepared fresh fruit was for dessert. We needed the food for the amount of swimming we were doing and amount we were choosing to drink!
We will certainly return to Barbados and will sail with Shasa again. We highly recommend this trip to everyone (whatever your diet!).

We have just returned from a cruise aboard 'the Shasa'. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Everything was fantastic. We swam, snorkelled and had a fabulous lunch on board. Jason and Matthew are brilliant hosts and made the whole trip very entertaining. They even put up with us neurotic women with our non swimming capabilities where we thought we were going to drown all the time! They are very patient snorkelling teachers and spent time making us feel comfortable in the water. We will definitely be going out with them again in November when we return to Barbados :-)
