About us

Shasa, meaning ‘Precious Waters’, is a stunning 30 foot catamaran, owned and captained by Jason O’Neal, who has over twenty years of sailing experience.

Licensed to carry 12 passengers, our aim is to provide our guests with a more intimate and personal service, and therefore numbers are limited to eight people.

Based in Holetown, we offer free transportation to and from the cruise terminal and west coast.

Once on board, you’ll be supplied with masks, snorkels and flotation devices, and for those less confident in the water, snorkelling instruction is available from Captain Jason or a member of the Shasa crew.

A range of complimentary drinks will be served throughout your day. Homemade banana bread is served on our snorkel cruises and white wine is offered with lunch on our 5 hour cruises.

Committed to respecting the environment and the marine life of Barbados we aim to make our tours as eco-friendly as possible.

“Swimming with turtles!”

Went on a 5 hour cruise for a 60th birthday celebration and it was a wonderful day! Jason and crew member Rory were so friendly and helpful throughout. We swam with turtles and so many different kinds of fish, which was really made by Rory pointing out the different types of fish to us and taking some photos on our go pro of the fish and turtles for us to keep. They also sent us some more photos after which they had taken. Lots of opportunities to swim or lie on the boat and relax. Some of the people in our group of 7 were nervous about swimming in the open water but Jason and Rory offered flotation aids and lots of encouragement and everyone managed to get in the water and really enjoyed themselves. One member of the group is less steady on his feet and Jason and Rory were helpful with this throughout. Drinks were offered constantly and the food for lunch was absolutely delicious! A wonderful day and we would definitely go again in the future. Highly recommended!

“Great Time”

We had our second sailing and snorkelling trip with Jason on Shasa in January, 2017. It was just as good as last year. We like the small craft and getting to visit and get to know everyone on the catamaran. Jason, Alex or the crew member are excellent at getting to spots for snorkelling where you will see a lot of variety of fish and sea turtles. We spent a lot of time in the water snorkelling and with the small number of people sailing on the Shasa , the crew member snorkelling with you can spend a lot of time explaining the fish and getting to good spots. The whole crew are very friendly and know the Barbados very well so we highly recommend it for a half day or full day on the water.

“A truly relaxing day”

There is nothing quite like getting out on the water on a bright breezy and sunlit day with family and friends. The owner operator Jason and his first mate/barman and tour guide Rory made our day with them something special. Gone were the sounds of the hustle and bustle, replaced with the lap of the water on the boat,

After the safety briefings we got underway along the West coast and stopped off to swim with turtles. From there we investigated a local coral reef and before coming back aboard where a trip down the coast brought us to our lunch of local dishes that had us all looking at seconds.

A short doze on board whilst watching the coast slip by and having great conversation saw us back to our pick up point. My wife and I enjoyed it so much as a change from the raucous booze cruises that we have been on and will no doubt again partake, that we have already made inquiries about the Summer when other members of our family will be on Island for their holidays.

“Recommended Excursion”

Had a great time on the three-hour sunset cruise with Jason and Rory.

I booked this with four friends to celebrate my birthday and we had the whole boat to ourselves. It was fun and relaxing, and didn't feel like a normal "tourist trip."

Rory was a great snorkel guide, and helped us find loads of different types of fish that we might have otherwise missed.

I would recommend bringing a raincoat or surf vest if it looks like rain as we got a little cold during a shower. The amazing rainbow and rum punch more than made up for it though!

Jason emailed some underwater pictures the next morning, which was an added bonus.

“Perfect”

My group of 6 friends went out for a 3 hour private cruise with Jason and Rory. They were great hosts and we had a lot of fun with them. Rory swam around with us and showed us the reefs and turtles. He even dove down and got some great GoPro footage for me. Jason was very knowledgable and friendly. We were celebrating the 30th birthday of our friend and they even had a bottle of Prosecco to toast as we ended the cruise. The banana cake was extremely tasty also. The next day we ended up googling the recipe for Bajan Banana cake because it was so good. I would highly recommend booking a trip with Shasa.

“Thank you Shasa for the best birthday ever!”

A cruise with Shasa is a must if you are visiting Barbados, with a max capacity of eight passengers the experience is personal and chilled. Captain Jason and Rory are patient and professional, I had not snorkelled before so Jason kindly and calmly guided me through, which really set me up to make the most of our day on the water, and I loved it. We met turtles and a beautiful array of fish on our guided tour through the coral reef with Rory. The lunch provided was fresh authentic Bajan food, one of the best meals we ate through out our trip. It was my boyfriends birthday and his day was perfect, everyone on board toasted him with "happy birthday", he didn't have to worry about a thing, the atmosphere was unforgettable.

“Beautiful sailing day”

Awesome tour. The cab ride got us ahead of all the cruise ship tours and we beat the rush of people to the snorkel spots. We sailed, snorkeled, and relaxed on one of the best days of our vacation.

JASON was a great captain. Rory was awesome as a guide in the water. He showed us sea turtles, puffer fish, ballyhoo, etc. He made sure we had great video. He took our GoPro for a few minutes and we were amazed at the sea life he captured on video when we watched later.

We were served an great local meal. We always had full drinks and had a great day with just our family. I would highly recommend this tour!

“Hands Down the Highlight of our Vacation”

We were in Barbados with our entire family--all nine of us--the week before Christmas. Despite iffy weather and occasional rain squalls, plus the fact that mature turtles had long ago migrated to deeper seas, Jason and Rory gave us the excursion we were hoping for. We swam with a juvenile turtle, explored coral reefs where we saw tropical fish, and experimented with a sea urchin that latched onto our palms. At first, our youngest granddaughter became frustrated with her snorkel equipment but they patiently helped her overcome her fears and waited out her brief tantrum until she, too, happily swam with the fishes. It was a first time snorkel experience for at least four of us, and now everyone wants to do it again! Thanks, boys, for this wonderful introduction. The catamaran, of course, was divine; the crew informative and companionable. We were so glad we lucked out and this was our first choice! Highly recommend!
